Proper clearing of pipes

If all of the water is not removed from the lines, the pipes will crack. Make sure that you are using licensed professionals for this process. It can be extremely costly getting this part wrong! Anti-freeze is a must.

Tension on the cover

Remember the purpose of a safety cover is SAFETY. The pins should all be in good condition, able to help provide tension. The cover may need to be readjusted throughout the winter as snow weighs it downs and melts.

Storage of all pumps

The pumps should be removed from the system via unions and stored in the garage, basement, or shed to protect them from the elements. This also goes for salt/chlorine generators.

Spa closings

Spas can take longer than the actual pool to winterize due to their intricate plumbing networks. This should be done with patience. The spa will incur an additional cost for closings.

CLEAN the pool!

A clean closing makes for a clear clean opening. It's proven! Don't just slap the cover on a dirty pool, you'll regret it in the spring. A vacuum can be added to closing for the cost of a service visit!

When is too late??

This is weather/temperature dependent. Once the outside air temp drops below 32 degrees, we begin taking chances. Water in motion will not freeze. But, what happens if the pump trips? or there's a power outage? Don't risk it!
