Variable speed pumps

Single speed pumps

pump_edited.png

Single speed pumps were discontinued from reliable sources in 2021. Any pump with a HP greater than 1.5 THP legally needs to be a variable speed pump. Single speed pump can still be purchased in lower THP for fountains, water feature, and cleaner pumps

Multiports

It is important to remember that multiport failure is a huge unknown cause of pressure and water loss through the waste port. Changing the type or brand of filter will require multiport replacement

Chemical Automation

Pump_edited.png

Chemical automation is under utilized. These systems can be installed and calibrated to your pool. They maintain the water chemistry in two main areas: 1) Chlorine 2) PH These are 2 huge factors that if unchecked correctly, can lead to major chemical fluctuation.

System Automation

System automation comes in many different forms. The majority of them accomplish the same thing. They put the control of many features of your pool including, Lights, pump function, Spa control, spa feature control, and even landscaping lights/equipment

3-Way Diverters You ever notice those weird valves that appear to send the water everywhere? Those are called diverter valves and they can usually be found nears heaters, the joining of multiple pipes, or on the suction end of the pump. They have to be replaced as is and do cost more than normal valves.

Valve actuators Are usually found on 3 way diverters. Common uses are, changing between pool and spa mode, regulating water features, changing the direction of return water to the pool. You will only find actuators where there is an automation system.

Check valves Are used to prevent the flow of water in an opposite direction. These are found after a heater oulet pipe but before the salt/chlorine. This prevent chemicals from backflowing into the unit. The can also be found on plumbing slightly above the pool grade. On the suction, this allows equipment to retain water for initial start ups.

Pressure gauges Help us with understanding the pressure within the system. We don't want the pressure being too low or high. There are ways to improve pressure predicaments.

2 way Diverters Are found in locations of these system where the flow may need to be stopped, or restricted. These are usually found before and after most interruptions in plumbing. Regardless of brand, they all do the same thing (some more effectively than others)

Schedule 80 & CPVC Valves are used on high pressure junctions & high temperature locations like heaters (respectively)

Unions should be located before and after pumps for winter storage, on filtration bulkheads, heater headers, and salt chlorine generators. be very careful not to lose the gasket inside otherwise there will not be a clean seal on reassembly causing a leak.

Spigot valves are mostly located on pump manifolds where the system is hard to prime. It allows for a hose bib connection to help with a garden hose. They can also be used as winterization ports for small diameter plumbing assemblies.
